There are many acting talent agencies that will be ready to offer you or get you a good assignment if they feel that you have the looks and the talent. While one can go and search and apply to various acting talent agencies, one must ensure that the acting talent agency is reputed and has good credentials.

With the right kind of acting talent agency you can launch your career in acting. You may receive a lot of casting calls through your acting talent agency for films and fashion shows. The right acting talent agency can get you the modeling job, contract, casting calls and acting jobs from a lot of major production companies.

Many believe that it is the acting talent agency and not the studio that calls the shots in Hollywood and also have a lot of good contacts. A well established acting talent agency can help you land that film contract within months and even days.

The acting talent agencies have the power because the studios want those people that they represent. Many actors who want to be successful always have a good and professionally big acting talent agency behind them because they know that even though the quality of the projects is not always what might be expected from independent productions who search for and use their own pools of talent, the attraction of earning five and six figures for a film role is impossible to resist.

When you contact an acting talent agency with your photographs and resume, make sure that you don’t give out signs that you book directly. One way of knowing that you are a person who prefers to book directly is if you give out your card or your phone number. Many acting agencies do not like to work with stand alone actors who book directly. Basically it doesn’t give them a cut from what you earn so obviously they will not like it.

There are many acting talent agents whose contacts are available online. However, it is advisable that you go through proper reference and channels as this way you will be able to increase your network which will in turn help you land more lucrative assignments.

Tom Herry asked:

Mainly because of the brutal economic crisis that has embattled economies around the globe, many talent agents have started to reinvent themselves; and for some, it is paying off. The global economic crisis, that has caused turmoil in many US industries, has not spared the acting talent agencies of the USA. Nationwide, mergers and layoffs have pushed the industry to the wall and have forced many laid-off talent agents to pursue a different path.

In the midst of the chaos happening in and around the industry, several talent agents are making the leap from talent agent to entrepreneurs and talent managers. With this move they hope that they can, at least, survive, if not actually beat this recession. Though it isn’t easy, stress and uncertainty are nothing new to these talent agents turned acting talent agency businessmen.

And in an industry where poaching of clients is not only a practice but a culture, several talent agents turned managers have still managed to maintain their triple-A class clients even after they got laid-off from their, now, former acting talent agencies. By going to business on their own, a talent agent has effectively left behind the poaching culture of their former acting talent agencies and are, now, able to serve their clients better because of it.

With more and more talent agents getting into management of acting talent agencies, competition has become fierce. With actors’ salaries dropping, many are seeking the advice of these talent managers. And since movie roles have become scarce, a lot of former talent agents have advised actors to branch out into branding and to the Internet.

In the midst of all this, two factors, chaos and opportunity, have effected change. And in showbiz, just like any other business, chaos almost always brings opportunity. And as talents seek more help from new acting talent agency managers, the transformation of talent agents to talent managers is expected to continue. And at the heart of it all are people, talent agents who have taken up the cudgels of acting talent agency mangers, who genuinely want to see their talents succeed.

Have you ever watched the famous reality show/series titled, America’s Next Top Model? Was it something that caught your fancy? At some point while you are watching it, is there something inside you that keeps on tugging you to pursue that childhood dream of walking and strutting your style on a ramp wearing that skimpy Prada dress?

If you want to be your own country or city’s next top model and would want to try pushing your luck on this career path and really show what you’ve got on that runway, then stop wishing and start working to make your dream come true.

Modeling is one difficult yet definitely attainable dream. It takes perseverance and a never-say-die attitude in order for you to embark on your lifelong journey to becoming the next top model. Being a model, however, is not just about living the lifestyle. Your perseverance doesn’t end when you have become a model. It actually becomes even more required of you.

So how does one climb their way to being a top model? The first thing that you have to do if you want to make it big in the modeling industry is to find a credible modeling agency for you. You can find talent agencies everywhere but you have to be careful as not all of them can really be trusted. You have to sharpen your radar, expand your knowledge and read a lot about these modeling agencies so that you would know a fraudulent one when you see it.

Also, you should really trust yourself each time you are trying out for a modeling agency. A seasoned talent agent could smell fear and insecurity from a distance so beware. Show them what you’ve got and why should you be the next top model. Made them realize the gem that they are losing if they are not taking you in. Make yourself standout and show them how unique and competent you are.

Getting into any of the various top modeling agencies is your way to advance yourself on the modeling ladder. So if you want to start great, look for a reputable talent agent to take care of you.

Seo 5 Consulting asked:

Have you ever been told that you have an awesome voice? Have you been complimented over the telephone for your diction and timbre? Then you could have what it takes to get into the voice over industry as a voice over talent.

Make no mistake about it – voice over is a hot industry. Regardless of the economy, voice over artists are always going to be in fierce demand. However, voice over agents aren’t going to come knocking on your door. You need to get out there and “sell” yourself first.

So how do you get into the voice over industry? Check out these ways to start on the path to a new voice over career.

1. Make a Demo of Your Vocal Abilities

Obviously, you’ll need a demo of your vocal talents and abilities; after all, your voice is your product and if potential voice over clients and agents can’t hear it, you won’t be hired. Therefore, you need to make a demo recording.

What should you read on your demo? Though there isn’t any cut-or-dry answer, do read something that is “right” for your vocal ability. For instance, if you’re a voice over talent in your 20s but you sound like you’re still 12, don’t try to read copy that’s meant for a 30-year-old. Instead, choose something that would be appropriate for a young teen.

One item to note – choose a professional venue in which to record your demo. If you have to, contact a voice over talent agency like Voice Over LA to record you in a studio environment. Though you can tape yourself at home, it just won’t sound as good unless you have state-of-the-art audio equipment.

2. Send Your Demo to Reputable Voice Over Agents

Now that you have your demo (in the form of a tape and/or a digital file recording such as an .mpg), it’s time to get yourself noticed as a legitimate voice over talent.

To start with, you need to investigate some of the reputable voice over agents in and around your area. (Many voice over agents prefer local voice over talent, so start nearby – you can always expand your search later.) Check on the voice over talent agency’s site to make certain that you know how they like to receive demos (e.g., in the mail, in an email, by appointment in person.) If the agency’s site doesn’t give you any indication of how or where to send your demo, give them a call.

3. Check in with the Voice Over Agents to Whom You Sent Demos

Give the voice over agents to whom you sent your demo recording a chance to hear your work (and don’t be surprised if it takes them a while to get to your submission.) Then, if you haven’t heard from them, you might want to give a call just to check on the status of your voice over application.

Most voice over agents will be up-front with you – if they aren’t interested in representing you, they’ll tell you. In this case, move on and don’t argue. After all, if you’re good, you’ll be able to find a voice over agent who wants to put you in their cadre of voice over talents.

4. Start Over Again!

Even if you gain representation with a voice over agent, you’ll want to keep creating new and better demos. Remember that becoming a voice over talent isn’t something that happens overnight. It requires dedication and a serious commitment to becoming the best you can be. Keep forging ahead and good luck!

If you hope to become a talent scout, you need to see what you can locate as far as training resources go. Obviously (as far as I know), there aren’t any “talent scout school courses” or training facilities out there to take or attend, so you just have to dig deeply in your search. But such a resource shouldn’t be too difficult to find however, in a small amount of time. But when all is said and done, the age-old saying rings true on this matter; “experience is the best teacher”. This line of work is best undertaken with the backing power of many years of hard-earned, time-tested experience under your belt. But what if you are just beginning in this realm of profession, and you just simply don’t have any experience whatsoever?

This is the reason that while you wish to become a talent scout, you should discover a way to reap the benefits of a vast amount of experience and the wisdom which can come from many years of it all by locating a person who has such and can lend it to you. This is what is known as mentoring, and it’s the only method of gaining the educational fortitude of experience while you are still as yet to attain some of your own. It’s pretty much the same as working in an apprenticeship program. Truth be told, when all is said and done, that’s exactly what it is, really.

Many mentors like this are out there in the world today, who have enjoyed long and successful careers in their many years in the field and have now taken on the task of guiding others along the path to become a talent scout. These are the wise sages to be seeking out for you to take on as your mentors, because they can show you the way down the road to success, steer you clear away from all of the pitfalls to avoid, and help you create a long-standing good name for yourself and your business.

1-Call the Better Business Bureau in the State you live in and find out who is a member and there rating with the Bureau.

2-Contact your local film commission and see who they recommend.

3-Interview with at least three to five to different agencies and find the best fit possible. Be wary, if they make promises they probably are only after your money. Make sure you and your specific agent are on the same path for your future. Have realistic expectations.

4-Check IMDBPRO.com  the leader in tracking film and T.V. acting and productiond and see the agencies booking credentials.

5-Contact local ad agencies, commercial photography studios, production companies and casting directors. Ask them which agencies they work with.

6-See if they have a legit list of jobs they have done in the past and if they do do they fit your expertise and look.

7-Understand that  every agency is different and some have a certain expertise in the industry, make sure that your skills match.

8-Be aware agencies are not miracle workers. You have to be exceptional and well skilled if clients are going to pay you to work in our industry.

9-Make sure they have all the licenses required by your City, and State.

10-Find out if they have personally represented any of there talent that have gone on to work in larger markets.

11-Ask if they can show you various check stubbs of wages there talent have made.

12-Find out there commission rate and get it in writing. The average agency in the United States charges 10% for extras or SAG actors and 15-20% for everything else.

13-If you need more advice or representation go to www.crazeagency.com, we are here to help.

cooljaan asked:

This is the generation of reality shows, talent hunts and cut-throat competition in every field.  When everything is so commercialized and merit-based, one really needs to strive hard to be noticed and appreciated for his talent. Online talent community resolves many a problem of these talented people.

We come across umpteen talent searching programs on television and innumerable enthusiasts participating in them. The intention behind conducting these television shows is to spot fresh talent in the field of singing, dancing, acting, modeling and a variety of other domains. “I want to be a rock star”, “I aspire to be a super model”, “I wish to win the Oscar one day” – aren’t these some of those beautiful dreams that the youth worldwide has? Yes, it does. And in order to fulfill their dreams some of these youngsters approach and spend a fortune on various talent agencies or attend auditions for reality shows, whichever feasible.  But how many of the really talented people get a chance to attend the auditions? Even if they do get through, how many of the truly talented ones get the appreciation and recognition they deserve?

Our generation is impatient, like a popular ad says. We are impatient to showcase our talent to the world. We are impatient to sit and wait for that opportunity to come and knock our door. We are impatient to rock the world. We want instant solutions for our concerns.

So what’s the solution - one that brings opportunity to your door and knocks till you open; one that provides you a platform to showcase your talent without the grueling auditions or exorbitant spending. It’s also the one that gives you global viewership and puts you in the group of talented youth. Not just that, it gives you a fair chance to prove yourself and be judged without any biases or stereotypes. In short, it’s ‘online talent community’.

Susan Boyle shot to fame with her stunning performance in Britain’s Got Talent but it’s her video on YouTube that made her an overnight world favorite. With more than 10,651,040 views in just three weeks and a newly acquired celebrity status Susan Boyle is easily one of those “get online – get famous” kind and is an inspiration for millions. Not to mention what myspace did to Lily Allen. She turned a myspace rock star with her songs “Guess Who Batman”, “Get With the Brogram”, “The Fear” (then titled “I Don’t Know”), “I Could Say”, and “Who’d Have Known” and each of these had between 250000 to one million plays. Her fame in the virtual world inspired the launch of an online game, Escape the Fear, as a part of viral marketing targeted at people unaware of Allen. As on 18 February 2009 the game had been played over two million times! In short, people have become famous, got celebrity status and due recognition of their talent through the easily accessible “online” medium.

With the advent of internet the world has not only shrunk into a global village but is also throwing numerous opportunities at us, which include the online talent communities. It’s now entirely up to us how we avail ourselves of these opportunities and bring out the best in us.

Lewis Waller asked:

Becoming a talent agent can be the most unstable part of the whole business… I take that back – it IS the most unstable part of it all. When you’ve gotten yourself and your business established and moving along with a modicum of momentum and a bit of success, then things can generally for the most part be less of a bumpy ride, but while you’re just sticking your toes in the water in this field, the slightest mistake can seal your ultimate doom. To use a somewhat exaggerated (though not very unrealistic) example, let’s imagine you’ve found a client who wants a job in modeling, and you book work for her at some sort of grand opening at a shopping mall where she has to wear a full-body suit looking like a teddy-bear… do you think she might become a bit disenchanted with your services?

Further, what do you think she’ll tell her friends (and her friends’ friends) about your business? How fast and far will her reviews of your services spread? How much worse will it become as the story jumps from person to person and degrades in feeling? What kind of a label do you think this would earn for your business? In the end, how long do you suppose your business will survive? Due to the inescapable fact that your reputation is your calling card, the one single dynamic driving force in finding you more clients, you can plainly see how the outcome could be very destructive. This is the reason the very start of becoming a talent agent can be so critical.

However, becoming a talent agent doesn’t need to be accomplished all on your own. Actually, you can reap the benefits of having many years of experience even if you haven’ got a shred of any – you do this by taking on a mentor. Someone who has had years of experience in an illustrious career in this line of work and has now moved on to helping others find their way along the road to success in this field of work.

Lewis Waller asked:

Starting a talent management company can have its share of challenges… for example, while you’re still in your meager beginnings, you haven’t yet been able to establish a good and lasting name for yourself or your talent agency, so you’ve really got no kind of reputation as of yet to speak of in order to fall back upon when things get rough. You might make a slight error in booking or fall shy of a potential client’s expectations of being handed to them the stardom that they are convinced that the world owes them. In your beginnings, if any client becomes slightly dissatisfied in your quality of service, word of it will be freely tossed around through text messages on their (and their friends’) cell phones until it has spread like the plague. This is how your reputation can doom you before you’ve even had the chance to create a good one for your talent agency.

You need to first discover where all the pitfalls are to avoid before you decide to be starting a talent management company, and such knowledge can only come from years of previous experience in this field. So how can anyone conceivably have a chance if they’re only starting to gain a foothold in this type of business? This is perhaps the most awkward paradoxes to overcome in this line of work, and the only way to work around this puzzling conundrum is to take on a mentor - someone who has learned and understood all of the tricks of the trade over the course of many years.

The wise sages to hunt down when starting a talent management company are the people who have had many years, perhaps even decades of hard-earned experience in this industry and have after retirement moved on to the task of tutoring and guiding others along the path who are just beginning careers in this particular niche of the entertainment industry.
